How Radiometrc Dating Works- Or Does It?

In this part of our earth science series, we will be looking into methods used for dating.

One popular method most of us have heard of is radiocarbon or carbon dating which is used in radioisotope, radioactive or radiometric dating.  Other better known techniques include potassium-argon dating and uranium-lead dating but there are many other methods.

If radiometric dating didn't work it would change a lot of things we thought we knew about our history, at least as it relates to our perception of time and what may have happened in a given period in it.

So, we use it because it works, right?  I mean, it's at least fairly accurate, isn't it?  ...Or is it?

First, let's look at information supporting radiometric dating.

If you are participating in the timeline project I would recommend taking some good notes so you can see who successfully, in your estimation, proves their case and disproves the other the best.

Radiometric Dating Flawed!! Really?? How Old IS the Earth?

It all sounds pretty convincing, doesn't it?  Certainly their argument has been pretty persuasive- perhaps convincing even, but it wouldn't be fair not to hear what the other side has to say since there is one.

Is it still possible to prove radiometric dating could be wrong?

See what you discover.

TIMELINE PROJECT
Refer to your notes as you watch the videos below to compare the information and decide who best proves their case, then enter the information onto your timelines with the usual notations.

What is your current belief on a potential worldwide flood in earth's history?
Did the information on how the continents were potentially formed help solidify your thoughts on the matter or do you still need more information before you can reach any real conclusion?

How you perceive whether or not a flood actually occurred worldwide could have some bearing on your decision as well as whether or not we have actually ever really made it to the moon.

Despite the fact that the Hydroplate Theory has been around now for decades and answers more questions about what we see about our history, plate tectonics has remained the most widely accepted.

To accept the Hydroplate Theory would change everything, including how we date things.  That would rock one big boat.

Speaking of big boats, whether there was a big boat or not, there certainly was a global flood, and it may have went something like this:

After reviewing the information
what have you concluded?

By your estimation, does radioisotope dating work or doesn't it and how might this have affected your timeline?
Did it result in any adjustments?

Has the way you think about any of the topics in this series so far changed in any way
and if so, how profoundly?

Until next time
I invite you to further explore this and all topics you'll find on this site.
