Glyphosate Discovered In Several Vaccines: Should It Come As Any Surprise?

What is glyphosate?

N-(phosphonomethyl)glycine or 2-[(phosphonomethyl)amino]acetic acid.

It is more commonly known as a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide and crop desiccant.

An organophosphorus compound.

A phosphonate used to kill weeds, especially broadleaf weeds and grasses that compete with crops.
Crops that go to feed you, me, our pets, livestock, poultry and, well, you get the picture.

It was brought to market under the trade name Roundup in 1974 after being discovered in 1970 by the Monsanto chemist John E. Franz after prompting by Monsanto seeing some promise for it's use as an herbicide though it was previously synthesized by Swiss chemist Henry Martin in 1950 who worked for Cilag but his work was never published.

It was patented 10 years earlier as a chemical chelator agent in 1964 by Stauffer Chemical because it binds and removes minerals such as calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, and zinc.  This should have been a red flag for use on food crops before the research to develop it as an herbicide ever began.

Monsanto also introduced Roundup Ready glyphosate resistant crops making glyphosate the most used herbicide by 2007 in the U.S. agricultural sector and second in home and garden, government and industry, and commerce use.

By 2016 there was a 100-fold increase from the late '70s in application frequency and applied volumes, partly due to unprecedented global emergence and spread of glyphosate-resistant weeds.
